Ambernath Citizens from Nisarg Greens raise voice again against pollution. Call up cops & MPCB officials.

Ambernath citizens had just recently protested on Diwali day against various civic issues, mainly against pollution.

Yesterday evening (Sunday, November 11th 2018); ACF members along with Nisarg Greens residents had planned a brief meeting with a senior lawyer for legal suggestions & options with respect to ongoing issue of pollution.

In midst of the meeting suddenly, everyone started feeling uncomfortable due to smoke & bad smell due to gases released by nearby chemical factories from Morivili MIDC. Nisarg Greens residents said that they are fed up with this pollution issue which is causing discomfort everyday. A senior citizen sitting nearby, said he has invested his entire life long savings post retirement in taking a home at Ambernath here at Nisarg Greens and is feeling worried due to this ongoing pollution everyday.

People started feeling more uncomfortable due the pollution. Citizens & ACF members immediately called up Thane collector's office (Thane Disaster Cell) & informed regarding pollution being happening everyday and seems tragedy to struck if this pollution is not curbed now.

ACF  Members & Nisarg Greens residents did not stop there. They called up MPCB officials as well as Police Station. Nisarg Greens residents who were downstairs circulated message on whatsapp & called up their other friends & neighbours who were at home.

Within no time a huge crowd including women, senior citizens & kids were seen at gate of Nisarg Greens. Each one of them was complaining of he smoke which fills the entire residential complex making it difficult for them. They waited for officials to come.

After a short wait, police team arrived. API (Asst Police Inspector) from Shivaji Nagar Police Station, Ambernath East along with few police personnel and beat marshalls reached & spoke to the crowd. There was a long debate-cum-discussion regarding exact issue and factors to file complaint. API spoke internally & fibally it was decided that citizens to give formal complaint in writing.

In midst of this one kid started feeling unwell due to this pollution & puked. The kid was rushed to nearby doctor's clinic.

Later MPCB official also reached Nisarg Greens (Post numerous calls by ACF to senior MPCB officials). Residents showed the smog on road & smoke filled Nisarg greens complex to MPCB official & demanded a strict action on the chemical factories by MPCB. API also asked MPCB official to file formal complaint as per their rules. MPCB official assured ACF members & all Nisarg Greens residents that appropriate action will be taken against the chemical units in Morivili MIDC. He said mostly he will try to arrange for a 'Hearing' with factory owners.

In the meantime formal letter/complaint had got ready and signatures were taken from all present residents, ACF members & security personnel of Nisarg Greens (as they face huge issue being directly at entrance). The letter was handed over to the API & then members also went to Shivaji nagar Police station to collect the acknowledgement copy of same.

It was almost midnight by the time everyone went back home. A sudden protest led to a formal complaint being submitted. People are losing their patience and were suggesting to advise their other friends, relatives & other people to not buy property in Ambernath as the place is unfit to live due to smoke from the illegal dumping ground, chemical units from MIDC, Morivili etc. Few people were also suggesting that they should protest more often till the issue gets resolved.

We hope the cops & MPCB take appropriate action on this.

  1. It's really a good initiative. It must happen earlier in past, but any ways it's not that late much. We must protest hard, I support this cause, polutiopo should be stopped immediately. After all life is most precious than anything or any industry.
